Ginger L. (McLaughlin) Statler, 78, of Greencastle, PA, passed away Friday, February 20, 2026, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born February 14, 1948, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert D. and Ethel V. (Mellott) McLaughlin.

Ginger was a 1966 graduate of James Buchanan High School in Mercersburg and later attended Penn Hall in Chambersburg. On August 12, 1966, she married Dennis L. Statler at Trinity United Church of Christ in Mercersburg, beginning a marriage that spanned nearly six decades.

For many years, Ginger worked as a beautician from her home, welcoming clients not just for appointments, but for conversation and connection. She stepped away from that work when her daughter was in high school and later held positions at Ames Department Store, McGraw Hill, and Citibank, where she worked in the fraud division.

She was a member of the Mercersburg American Legion, where she once served as president of the Ladies Auxiliary, and she also belonged to the Mercersburg V.F.W.

Ginger was an avid reader and, in earlier years, enjoyed crafts and creative projects. She was deeply devoted to her parents, and their passing changed her in lasting ways. She was a private person who expressed love in her own quiet style. She did not always put everything into words, but her care showed itself in the steady, practical ways she supported those around her. She valued her independence, held firmly to her routines, and found particular comfort and companionship in her beloved cats.

In addition to her husband, Dennis, she is survived by her daughter, Veronica Statler of Greencastle; two sisters, Marcia Atherton and her husband, Rick, of Mercersburg, and Theresa McMulty of Greencastle; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ginger’s name may be made to Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Rd., Waynesboro, PA 17268.

A private celebration of Ginger’s life will be held at a later date.

Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle, is handling the arrangements.
