Gerry L. Powell, 57, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Monday, September 9, 2024, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, PA. Born February 26, 1967, he lived his early childhood in Mont Alto, PA, and then resided in Waynesboro from the mid-seventies until presently. He was the son of the late William and Joanne (Rhone) Powell.
Gerry enjoyed sports, especially football and baseball and was a member of the Record Herald little league team in Waynesboro and has collected various trophies from that era. In 1978, he won a race promotion and proudly got to have his picture taken with former Pittsburgh Steelers Hall-of-famer Franco Harris which appeared in the Record Herald. He was fond of his collection of hats and enjoyed playing dice and board games. Gerry enjoyed sending greeting cards to loved ones and friends and especially enjoyed the company of others.
Gerry is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Powell) Bricker of Waynesboro; grandson, Trenton A. Freeman of Waynesboro; granddaughter, Kylie M. Freeman of Waynesboro; stepdaughter, Jessica Morton of Kentucky; brothers, William E. Powell Jr., Donald E. Powell, and Rickard A. Powell all of Waynesboro; sister, Barbara J. Staley of Brockway, PA; nephews, Jordan G. Staley and Scott A. Staley both of Waynesboro; nieces, Kindre R. Wilson of Waynesboro, and Kloe A. Wilson of Milton, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents William E. Powell Sr. and Joanne (Rhone) Powell and nieces Amber J. Chase and Abrial E. Benchoff.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
