Mrs. Georgia P. (Pencek) Harding, 78, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026 in her home surrounded by family.
Born December 26, 1947 in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Edward A, and Helen B. (Dialekton) Pencek.
Georgia was a graduate of Waynesboro High School with the Class of 1965. She then graduated from Maryland Medical Secretarial School’s medical assistant program in 1967 and later continued her studies at Hagerstown Business College.
In her early years, Georgia was a medical assistant for Dr. Farrah’s office in Waynesboro and later was an executive assistant at PAT Equipment in Chambersburg for 15 years. Prior to her retirement in 2009, she dedicated a number of years to First Lab, Waynesboro.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Smithsburg and Waynesboro Country Club. Georgia treasured trips to the beach with her sister, loved shopping and exploring yard sales and was an avid collector of Longaberger baskets. She faithfully supported her grandchildren, sharing her love and knowledge of both the farm and its fruit with their classmates while they were in elementary school.
Georgia is survived by her husband of 38 years, Mr. Donald M. Harding, who she married October 31, 1987; daughter, Jennifer K. Goulden of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Adam D. and Mya K. Goulden, both of Waynesboro; sister, Angela E. Standridge and her husband, Charles of Waynesboro; her canine companions, Max and Tucker; a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Edward B. Pencek.
A service to honor Georgia’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 3, 2026 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Pastor Virgil Cain officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
