George Andrew Scheitrum Jr. (Andy) died on October 16, 2023 at the age of 80 at home, surrounded by his family.
Predeceased by his parents, Anna Marie (Stanmier) Scheitrum and George Andrew Scheitrum, Sr. and his brother, Gary Allen Scheitrum (Barbara). Born August 9, 1943 and raised in Abington he graduated from Abington High School and attended Penn State. He was in five music groups in high school playing the trombone, and always enjoyed music and the doo-wop groups of the 50’s and 60’s. He loved the outdoors and camping with time spent at Hickory Run State Park and the cabin on the Tohickon in Bucks County. He tended a garden of several acres at his home in Springfield Twp., Bucks County where he lived since 1978. An avid swimmer, Andy loved the water, especially the beach. He took joy in traveling and visited Alaska, Hawaii, many National Parks, two thirds of the states in the United States and also Europe. He was a veteran of the US Navy, was on flight crew, and reveled in flying in submarine hunters.
He is survived by his wife, Eloise (Turner) Scheitrum and his two sons, Gregory Turner Scheitrum and his wife, Rachel Barry (Greencastle, PA) and Trevor Andrew Scheitrum and Robin Snelling (Seattle, WA). The apples of his eye were his two granddaughters, Sarah and Greta Scheitrum. They were rays of sunshine in his life. Andy passed on his love of mechanics, DIY repair, examples of male love and kindness, and common sense to his two sons.
He is also survived by many close in-laws; Natalie Pawell and Ronald (predeceased), Harry Turner and Nancy, Andrea Hartley and Roger, and Barbara Scheitrum. His beloved nieces and nephews were also an important part of his life too. Karen and Tony Sulpizio, Donna and Jason Vance, Kent Baum, Douglas and Vilhana Turner, Daniel and Sage Turner, Joanna Tao and Francis, Eric Hartley, and many great nieces and nephew.
