Mr. George Hector “Butch” Miller, 77, of Hagerstown, died Friday morning, January 20, 2023, with his family at his side at Meritus Medical Center Hagerstown.  He was the husband of Vicki Lynn Marks Miller for 56 years.

Born March 30, 1945, at his childhood home in Hagerstown, he was a son of the late Wayne Hector and Betty Jane Lewis Miller.  He attended South Hagerstown High School.

Butch was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served with the Army Corp of Engineers during the Vietnam War.

He worked his career as a roofer with local companies such as Tri-State Roofing, LH Miner, Ray & Floyd Kline, and JL Jones.

He was a protestant by faith, and attended Otterbein United Methodist Church, Hagerstown.

Butch very much enjoyed time with his family. He coached at National Little League, frequently went hunting & fishing, and assisted with the Cub Scouts Pack 101. He was an avid New York Yankees, Redskins, and Nascar fan; especially of Jeff Gordon and Mickey Mantle.

Surviving besides his wife, Vicki, are his sons, John G. Miller and wife Cathy Jo, of Hagerstown, and Brian K. Miller and girlfriend Kelly Bender of Boonsboro; his grandsons Michael Miller and wife Sara, and Joshua Miller and wife Megan; great granddaughters Bethany and Hannah; as well as his siblings Donald Miller, Sr., Barbara Shank and Thomas Miller; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his infant daughter Angel Marie Miller on June 7, 1974; and amongst his siblings James W. Sr., and John R. Miller.

The family will receive friends at the Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, on Tuesday, January 24, beginning at 6:00 PM and until 8:00 PM.  The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Wednesday morning, January 25, at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Bill Devilbiss officiating.  Interment will follow with honors in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Miller’s name to the Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown, Maryland  21740.
