George C. Clevenger, Jr., 88, of Greencastle, PA passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 14, 1936 in Mercersburg, PA, he was the son of the late George Clevenger, Sr. and Irene (Carbaugh) Clevenger.

George was employed at Mercersburg Tannery. After starting his family he began working at Thomas Mobile Home Company. Still looking for something better he took a job with Grove Manufacturing retiring after 37 years. George loved woodworking, camping, family gatherings, hunting, and restoring automobiles. He was a member of PA CRUISERS.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Virginia (Parsons) Clevenger; six children, Richard Clevenger (Debra) of Fannettsburg, Calvin Clevenger of Fayetteville, James Clevenger (Darlene) of Greencastle, Cathy King (Sam) of Mercersburg, Terry Clevenger (Cindy) of Chambersburg, Teresa Vaughn (Sioux) of Chambersburg; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Clevenger (Jean) of Mercersburg; and a sister, Brenda Sites of Greencastle. In addition to his parents he preceded in death by five brothers, Dean, Merle, Franklin, Harry, and Harold; a sister, Mabel; children, Raymond “Butch” Clevenger and Kevin Clevenger; and one great grandson, Alan Clevenger.
