Mr. Frederick John “Fritz” Rushlow, 65, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away, at his home on Friday, April 10, 2026.

Born April 24, 1960, in Shawano, WI, he was the eldest of four children born to the late Frederick Joseph and Ruth (Tonn) Rushlow.

Fritz was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1978. He continued his education by graduating in 1983, from UW Stout College, and later achieved his master’s degree in Historic Preservation from Savannah College of Art & Design, reflecting his lifelong commitment to learning and personal growth.

On October 24, 2000, Fritz married Sheila E. (Kenney) in Door County, WI. Though their marriage later ended, they shared many meaningful years together and remained connected through their family. In 2002, they made their home in the Waynesboro area.

Fritz dedicated over 21 years of service as a Project Manager with the National Park Service before retiring in January 2023. His work with the Historic Preservation Training Center took him across the country, where he contributed to the restoration of lighthouses and other treasured historic landmarks. Following his retirement, he proudly earned his CDL license and enjoyed driving a straight truck, an accomplishment that brought him great satisfaction.

A man of faith, Fritz attended church throughout his life and was most recently part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waynesboro. He was also a longtime member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greencastle, PA.

Fritz had a wide range of interests and hobbies that reflected both his creativity and his love of the outdoors. He enjoyed woodworking, sailing, collecting decoy ducks and antique furniture, and spending time hiking. He cherished visits with family in Wisconsin and found great companionship in his dogs over the years, most recently his beloved Olive.

Fritz will be remembered as a loyal and engaging person with a distinctive sense of humor. He had a quick wit and a dry, understated way of seeing the world that brought laughter to those who knew him well. His humor was uniquely his own, often subtle, sometimes unexpected, but always a reflection of his thoughtful and observant nature. Above all, he took pride in his work and the life he built through dedication and perseverance.

He is survived by his children, Madeleine C. Rushlow and Frederick M. Rushlow, both of Waynesboro; his siblings, Paul Rushlow and his wife, Jana, of Racine, WI, David Rushlow and his wife, Kial, of La Crescent, MN, and Sarah Rushlow of Stoughton, WI; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also remembered by Sheila, with whom he shared many years and a family.

A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date and will be held at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 N. Washington St., Greencastle.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 N. Washington St., Greencastle, PA 17225, or to Good Shepherd by the Lake Lutheran Church, 1860 US Highway 51 Stoughton, WI 53589
