Mrs. Florence E. May, 90, of Hagerstown, died Wednesday morning, August 28, 2013, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Paul F. “Mac” May who preceded her in death in 2003.
Born January 2, 1923, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late James Tillman, Sr., and Florence Estella Swope Haney.
Mrs. May was a member of Christian Science Society of Hagerstown; and a Christian Science Practitioner for 38 years. Her greatest love was her family and her God.
Surviving is her daughter with who she has resided for ten years, Judy Kent and husband Skip; her grandsons Robert Lee Nemzek and wife Karen, and Richard Scott Nemzek and partner Jill; great grandchildren, Hagen Nemzek and wife Brittany, and Dylen, Renton, Ryan and Elizabeth Nemzek. She is also survived by great grandsons Riley and Maddox Nemzek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. May was preceded in death by siblings, James, II, and Phillip Haney, and Glenna May.
Arrangements are being handled by the Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown. At Florence’s request there will not be a visitation of funeral service. Burial will be private; and a memorial service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Christian Science, 235 North Potomac Street, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740; or to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland 21742.
