Evelyn L. (Roberts) Zychal, 85, a long-time residence of Chambersburg, PA passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2026, in Transitions Shook Home. Born March 31, 1941, in Anderson, SC she was the daughter of the late Weldon and Vennie Mae (Seabolt) Roberts.

In her early life she was employed as a certified nursing assistant and then in private duty nursing. Later in life Evelyn was employed as a fraud specialist for Citibank, Hagerstown, MD. She won many awards for her ability to streamline processes.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Chambersburg where she was active in championing many youth programs and fundraising throughout the years. Evelyn was also a member of the VFW Post 1599 Ladies Auxiliary, Chambersburg. She loved shopping, especially on QVC and at Walmart. Evelyn was a wonderful cook who was known for her “southern fried chicken”. She enjoyed reading different recipes and researching genealogy. Evelyn also had a natural eye and talent for making silk flower arrangements. Her greatest gift, joy, and success in life was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Karen Anderson (Michael) of South Jordan, UT, Jennifer Bumbaugh (Christopher) of Waynesboro, PA, Paul Zychal, II (Mindy) of Rising Fawn, GA, and Daniel Zychal (Joann) of Fayetteville, PA; grandchildren, Caleb Bumbaugh (Morgan), Seth Bumbaugh, Abigail Frank (David), Hannah Cardenas (Shae), Luke Zychal, Mikayla Morgan, and Mackenzie Zychal; two great-grandchildren, Bennett and Brooks; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Paul J. Zychal who passed away November 13, 2011; infant son, Erick Jay Zychal; and four brothers, Welton, Hubert, Charles, and Ernest Roberts.

Services will be held 1:00 PM, Wednesday, September 9, 2026, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Rev. James Bolich officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday evening as well as one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
