Mrs. Evelyn (Dujmic) Gomez, 72, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Thursday morning, November 13, 2025, in her home.

Born October 27, 1953 in Harrisburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Joseph and Thelma Alease (Kennedy) Dujmic.  She lived her early life in the Greencastle, PA area.

Evelyn graduated from Greencastle High School with the Class of 1971. She later received her Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1975 and her Master’s Degree in Education from Shippensburg University.

She and her husband of over 47 years, Hector Gomez, were married on April 29, 1978 at St. John Catholic Church, Frederick, MD.

Evelyn worked as a special education teacher at the Franklin Learning Center, Chambersburg, PA, for over 25 years.

She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Waynesboro and the Greencastle V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary. She was a former member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Hagerstown, MD, where she taught Sunday School and served as cantor. She provided respite care for handicapped children. Evelyn was also a Brownie and Girl Scout Troop Leader for many years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Jennifer Esposito of Waynesboro, Thelma Reibsome (Christopher) of Greencastle, PA and Annie Gomez Shockey (Graig) of Waynesboro; five grandchildren, Chloe, Xavier, Ysobella, Jenson and Gideon; four sisters, Helen Banks of Avon, CT, Mary Stine of Greencastle, PA, Ruth Keller of Sebring, FL and Celeste Gardler of Greencastle, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, James Esposito; and one infant brother, John Dujmic.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in St. Andrew Catholic Church, 12 N. Broad St., Waynesboro, PA with Rev. Christopher Onyeneke, MSSCC officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M., Wednesday morning, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
