Ms. Ethel Lavetia Crockett Dixon, 69, of Hagerstown, died Thursday, October 17, 2024, at her residence.

Born December 19, 1954, in Baltimore, she was a daughter of the late James Andrew Crockett, Sr., and Ethel Ball Crockett.

Ethel was a social worker having worked in Baltimore, and Virginia.

She had a wide variety of interests and activities she enjoyed. From gardening and tending her houseplants, to walking and writing. Ethel published a love and romance novel loosely reflecting time spent in Reedville, Virginia, called “Southern Cross.”

Additionally, she had a large appreciation for art; and was an artist in her own right. She was particularly fond of collage and abstract forms of art.

Surviving is her son Andrew Weglein and wife Andora of Irwin, Pennsylvania; her grandson, Atlas; her sister Inola Burton of Randallstown; as well as by the Hancock Family of Turner Station.

Besides her parents James and Ethel, she was preceded in death by siblings Sharon Johnson, Carolyn McClain, and James, Crockett, Jr., and Tommy “Tub” Crockett.

Arrangements were entrusted by the family to Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown. A memorial service will be Tuesday, November 30, at 1:00 PM, at St. Matthew United Methodist Church, 101 Avon Beach Road, Dundalk.
