Ernest “Ernie” F. Rotz, 82, of Chambersburg, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday August 29, 2024. He was born to the late Harry R. and Tressie W. Rotz in Chambersburg on Monday, April 13th, 1942.
Ernie is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Carolyn (Poper) Rotz; son Milton E. Rotz and wife Stacey of Shippensburg; three grandchildren, Dylan, Shaine, and Breanne Rotz; one brother Harry Rotz Jr. of Chambersburg; one sister Lonnie Rotz, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Along with his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Rotz.
Ernie worked his whole life as a dairy farmer. He had a keen eye for antique tractors and was particularly fond of his restored John Deer 4020. In his early years, he was involved in tractor pulls and enjoyed traveling to tractor shows. Although he retired from milking cows in 2010, he was always on a tractor and never retired from working in the field. Cedar Pine Farms and Ernie were selected in 2012 as the “Franklin County Conservation Farmer of the Year” for his environmentally friendly farming practices.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, September 6th, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, with Rev. Eugene Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
