Mrs. Erma J. (Ocker) Diffenderfer, 88, of Charlestown Road, Mercersburg, PA went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 8, 2024, in the home of her daughter, Doris, while surrounded by family.

Born January 21, 1936, in Shippensburg, PA, she was one of 15 children of the late Aaron G. Ocker, Sr. and Ruth N. (Crider) Ocker.

She married Donald C. Diffenderfer January 3, 1970, in Hagerstown, MD. They enjoyed 49 years together when Donald passed away April 3, 2019.

Erma was primarily a homemaker; however, she did do private elder care in various homes in the local area.

She enjoyed crocheting. She made quilts for all of her nieces and nephews, baby quilts for all of her grandchildren, and scarves and dishcloths to friends and even complete strangers! Erma wouldn’t hesitate to help anyone in need. Her door was always open.

A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Erma is survived by three daughters, Diane E. Nicholson and her companion, Tony Gordon, of Fort Littleton, PA, Darlene M. Flasher and her husband James A. of Mercersburg, and Doris J. Murray and her husband Rodger D. of Mercersburg; seven grandchildren: Brent Diffenderfer (Chandelle), Dwight Flasher (Kaeley), Devin Flasher (companion, Averi), Bethany Webster (Clayton), Sarah Bowers (Rich), Gregory Murray and Jordan Murray; seven great-grandchildren; her siblings: Ruth N. Stouffer, Shippensburg, Harvey A. Ocker, Chambersburg, Merle E. Ocker, Chambersburg, David R. Ocker, Shippensburg, Earl W. Ocker, Richfield, PA and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Arthur D. Ocker, John I. Ocker, Wayne L. Ocker, James M. Ocker and Helen E. Gelsinger, Lista M. Ocker, Walter N. Ocker, Catherine L. Mills, Aaron C. Ocker, Jr.,

Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 12, 2024, in the Clayton Memorial Church of God, 6701 Charlestown Road, Mercersburg, PA with Rev. Carl Ocker and Pastor Rachel Elkins officiating.

Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg, PA.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Thursday evening in the Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington Street, Greencastle, PA, and again one hour prior to the service Friday, in the church.
