Emory Charles Stahl, age 92, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Doey’s House in Hagerstown, MD. Born in Blain, PA on August 11, 1934, he was the son of the late Clarence C. and Mary C. Gutshall Stahl.
Mr. Stahl served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He went on to work at Mack Truck as a machinist for 23 years, until his retirement in 1989. After retirement, Mr. Stahl worked part-time at South Mountain Golf Course from 1990-1998. He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ and the VFW both in Greencastle. He enjoyed fishing, golf, and hunting most of all.
Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Nellie Stouffer Stahl; three sons, Gregory Stahl (wife Rebecca) of Urbana, OH, Roger Stahl (wife Robin) of Mercersburg, PA, and Mark Stahl (wife Kate) of Greencastle, PA; three grandchildren, Amanda, Morgan, and Ryan, a great-grandson, Kaesen; and two siblings, Glenn Stahl and Doris Maxwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 10 AM at Grace United Church of Christ, 128 E. Baltimore St., Greencastle, PA, where Pastor Mark Ruzicka will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA.
