Elmer Anthony Knott, 91, of Blue Ridge Summit, PA, peacefully passed away on July 27, 2026, with his wife and sister by his side.
He was a patient at the Genesis Health Nursing Home since February. The caregivers grew very fond of him.
Born on May 11, 1935 in Thurmont, MD, he was the son of Charles Anthony and Ruth Ida (Daywalt) Knott.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, C. Elaine Knott; two sons, Douglas “Doug” Knott and wife, Shari of Wolfsville, MD and Anthony “Tony” Knott of Waynesboro, PA; one daughter, Karen “Sue” Parks and husband, Daryl of Waynesboro, PA; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Knott of Thurmont, MD and Rose Keepers of Fairfield, PA; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by seven siblings, Beulah Portner, Dorothy Condon, Charles Knott, Merle Knott, Richard Knott, Margaret Timmerman, and John Knott; an infant son, David Knott; and first wife, Doris (Kauffman) Knott.
He worked in Plumbing and Heating as well as Maintenance field. He never complained about the many calls in the middle of the night to go out on a call to restore someone’s heat. He was always eager to help people.
He loved spending time with the family. He loved hunting deer and fishing as well as hunting for mushrooms.
He was a life member of South Mountain Rod and Gun Club and The Blue Ridge Sportsman’s Club. He was a former member of the American Legion Post 239, Amvets Post 7, and the Eagles club.
Elmer donated his body to Science Care and per his wishes; there will be no funeral services.
The family will announce a celebration of life gathering at a later date.
