Ms. Ellen Schwartz Roller, 88, of Williamsport, died March 29, 2017 at Homewood at Williamsport (Maryland).
Born April 3, 1928, in Hagerstown, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Frank Stough and the late Rachel Arabella Sleasman Schwartz. She graduated from Mary Baldwin College in 1950 with a degree in teaching; and later earned a Masters Degree from The University of Maryland.
Ellen was a highly regarded educator and had an outstanding career with Montgomery County Schools. Though most of her career was as a teacher and principal, she held every academic position with Montgomery County Schools, except Superintendent. Upon retirement, she volunteered as a tutor for special needs students.
She was a member of the Episcopal Church and the DAR.
Ms. Roller is survived by her brother, David Stough Schwartz of Hagerstown; her daughter-in-law Pam Roller of Arlington, Virginia; and two nieces, a nephew, and numerous cousins.
Above all else, she was a devoted and loving mother to her son Frank Coiner Roller, III, who in addition to her parents preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, on Friday, April 7, beginning at 10:00 AM. The funeral service will begin at the funeral home at 11:00 AM with Rev. Kevin S. Munroe, pastor of Zion United Church of Christ, Hagerstown, officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
