Doris R, Van Sickle, 95, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Chambers Pointe Healthcare Center. Born January 13, 1929 in Hollisterville, PA, Wayne County, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Edna “Ruby” Brown Kellam. 

Doris was a graduate of Lake Consolidated High School in Lake Ariel, PA. Her super talent was sewing and she was employed as a seamstress until her retirement. She used her talent to serve her Lord and Savior by creating clothing for missions that went to places she would never see. Doris had a passion for helping others in need. She also served on the Missions Board at The Open Door Church where she was a member. When she retired from the board it was said, “When you’re working with Doris, there was never a doubt that the job you gave her would nicely turn out.”

She is survived by two daughters, Judy Golden of Chambersburg, PA, and Janet Lewis and husband Gordon of Summerfield, FL; a sister, Mildred Stevens of Moscow, PA; daughter-in-law, Carol Van Sickle of Paducah, KY; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her son, Glenn E. Van Sickle in 2021; and three sisters, Lois Zeigler in 1971, Louise Howe in 2012, and Letha McCurdy in 2014.
