Doris M. Burgner, 91, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Mercy House of Chambersburg. Born June 22, 1933 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Paul L. and Kathryn I. Nye Pugh. Her beloved husband, Robert E. Burgner, whom she married on September 11, 1950, preceded her in death on July 21, 2003.
Doris was a graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. Early in her life, she was employed at the Stanley Co., Beaver’s Restaurant, and the Keystone Diner. She also managed the Convenient Food Mart in Edgewater, MD, and worked at Sears in Annapolis, MD, for several years. Most of her life, she spent making a home for her family. Doris enjoyed flowers, gardening, and birdwatching.
She is survived by two children, Robert A. Burgner of Annapolis, MD, and Kathryn M. Wright of Lacy, WA; six grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. Aside from her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by four brothers, Lester, Eugene, William, and Theodore Pugh.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in Lincoln Cemetery. Chaplain Robert Murr will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA. Condolences and memories may be shared at geiselfuneralhome.com.
