Mrs. Dora H. “Dot” (Helfrick) Reiber, 87, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Monday, May 18, 2026 at The Leland of Laurel Run, Waynesboro.
Born November 12, 1938, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Anna Mae (Kipe) Helfrick.
Dot graduated from Waynesboro High School with the class of 1956.
She and her husband, the late H. Donald Reiber, were married on July 11, 1959 in Waynesboro, by the Rev. Don Harbaugh. Mr. Reiber passed away August 11, 2011.
Dot was employed as a switch board operator for the Waynesboro Hospital for many years, working up to age 80.
She had been a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Waynesboro for many years. She was also a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15.
A beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend, Dot adored her family. She was a very social person who enjoyed talking to new people. She and her husband were “snowbirds” in Florida for many years. They’d leave after the holidays and wouldn’t return until March! They loved going to Rehoboth Beach on family vacations from the time their children were very young. She and Donald also took bus trips all over the country together.
She is survived by three children: Wendy D. Reiber (Cathy Hunter) of Hagerstown, MD, Robin J. Florence (Gary) of Waynesboro, Scott A. Reiber (Rusty) of Santa Rosa, CA; step-son, Daryl L. Reiber of Naples, FL; four siblings: Nancy Kreager of Waynesboro, Mary Fogle of Hanover, PA, Dennis Helfrick (Connie) of Waynesboro and Barbara Dick (Larry) of Fairfield, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Helfrick and one sister, Virginia Houpt.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Friday, May 22, 2026, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, PA. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Friday afternoon, in the funeral home.
