Mr. Donald R. Fitz, 89, of Blue Ridge Summit, PA passed away Monday, March 23, 2026, at Creekside Village, Hagerstown, MD.
Born May 16, 1936 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Roy A. and Emma Jane (Patterson) Fitz.
He graduated from Washington Township High School with the Class of 1954..
Don served with the Maryland National Guard for over 10 years.
He and his wife of over 65 years, Linda D. (Stevens) Fitz, were married on November 5, 1960, in the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro.
Don worked at Landis Tool Company, Waynesboro, for over 44 years, retiring in 1999. In his earlier years, he was also a part time police officer for the Washington Township Department.
He was a lifelong member of Hawley Memorial Presbyterian Church, Blue Ridge Summit, Eagles Club, Inc., Waynesboro and the Blue Ridge Sportsman’s Association. He was also a member of the 29th Division, Acacia Lodge #586 F.&A.M., Waynesboro and was a former member of the Waynesboro Tigers.
Don was an avid golfer and enjoyed coaching softball when his girls were young.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Jeffrey L. Fitz (Miriam) of Cincinnati, OH, Tammy L. Littlefield (Stacy) of Centre, AL and Christina S. Raab (Chris) of Blue Ridge Summit; five grandchildren, Matthew, Leah, Brandon, Kaitlin and Jennifer; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Richard E. Fitz.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 27, 2026, in Hawley Memorial Presbyterian Church, 14753 Charmian Road, Blue Ridge Summit, PA with Rev. Carl Batzel and Rev. William Hammann officiating. Burial will be private in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Thursday evening, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
