Donald "Don" McNew, 90, passed into his Heavenly Father’s arms on July 13, 2024, at the Chambersburg Wellspan Hospital. He was born January 28, 1934 in Chambersburg. He was a son of the late Ray and Laura (Bittinger) McNew. Don was a member of the Deliverance in Christ Church whose fellowship he cherished. He retired from the Letterkenny Army Depot. After his retirement he opened his auto salvage business. Don enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved to hunt and go fishing. He enjoyed taking rides and finding new fishing spots that no one knew about. Many times on those rides he’d see a vegetable stand selling his favorite foods, tomatoes and corn, which he’d stock up on. Don is survived by his wife of 72 years, Lucy (West) McNew. He is also survived by his daughter Sharon Walls (husband Roger) and his daughter Donna Coble (late husband Tom). His son Gerald "Buddy" McNew proceeded him in death. He has 6 grandchildren; Amanda Porter (husband Mike), Ryan Mowen (wife Brooke), Jared McNew (wife Amy), Eric McNew (wife Bobbi Jo), Roger Walls Jr, and Jennifer Funk (husband Klaus). He also has 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Sellers Funeral Home on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held one hour before the funeral service at 10:00 AM. Graveside services will be at the Saint Thomas Cemetery. Pastor Lonnie Shover will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Don’s name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Matthew 25:23 "Well done, good and faithful servant."
