Mr. Donald L. “Don” Gaerttner, 88, of South Mountain, PA, passed away Monday, June 1, 2026, in Chambersburg hospital.
Born February 7, 1938, in Erie, PA, he was the son of the late Ollo C. and Georgia M. (Brown) Gaerttner.
Mr. Gaerttner held various jobs throughout his life, including working in sales at alarm companies and being a truck driver.
Mr. Gaerttner enjoyed the simple pleasure that life had to offer. He enjoyed talking with friends and family whether in person or on the phone. He liked being outdoors and planting flowers, especially for his mother in his younger years. He was very kind and knowledgeable about a lot of different things. He was an artist and had a special love for drawing.
He is survived by his five children, Donald, Donna, George, Angela, & Julie; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one nephew Charles Gaerttner, and one niece Lynn Mook.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 13 siblings, William, Raymond, Hugh, Charles, George, Richard, and Ross Gaerttner, Sr., Mary Colvin, Louise “Irene” Yost, Loretta Joint, Rose Andrzejczak, Sally Joint, and Judith Mook.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
