Donald E. Plank, 60, of Chambersburg, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 30, 2024, in Richmond, VA. Born April 20, 1964, in Chambersburg, he was a son of Marjorie “Joan” Greene Plank of Chambersburg, and the late Jay D. Plank.

Don was a 1982 graduate of CASHS. A US Navy veteran, he served honorably as a Navy Seabee. He was a member of the VFW Post 1599 and the Marine Corps League, both in Chambersburg. Don was a self-employed floor mechanic for over 30 years. He was dedicated to this trade and never settled for less than perfection in his work. He later changed careers and obtained his CDL. For the last 8 years, he was employed as a truck driver for Old Dominion. Don was a devoted family man. He enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, grilling, spending time at Hummingwood Cabin, and being with his family and friends. The Plank’s Annual Father’s Day tradition at Raystown Lake will live on, but will never be the same without him. One of Don’s goals was to have his ‘65 Chevy truck restored to enjoy in retirement. His two sons will ensure this happens.

In addition to his mother, Don is survived by his wife of 30 years, Darcy Gallagher Plank, whom he married on October 1, 1994; two sons, Andrew S. Plank and Jacob M. Plank, both of Chambersburg; two siblings, Pam Shuff (Fred), and Terry Plank and wife Kim, both of Chambersburg; and several close nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 7, 2024, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. His brother-in-law, Dana Cunningham, will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Stenger Hill Cemetery where Military Honors will be provided by the VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday evening at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Memorial contributions in the honor of Don’s life may be made to the American Heart Association. Condolences and memories may be shared at geiselfuneralhome.com.
