Donald B. “Donnie” DeShong, age 70, of Greencastle, PA, passed away at his home on Monday, May 6, 2024. Born in Chambersburg, PA on December 3, 1953, he was the son of the late Glenn C. and Betty Jo Bydalek DeShong.
Donnie was a 1971 graduate of CASHS. He worked as a machinist at Mack Truck in Hagerstown, MD. Donnie was a member of the Greencastle VFW and Greencastle Greens Golf Course. Donnie attended Hollowell Church in Waynesboro, PA. Donnie loved the outdoors, often spending time golfing, fishing, hunting, playing softball in his younger years, riding ATV’s, and working at Mack Truck. Donnie’s most cherished past time was time spent with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 35 years, Deborah Piper DeShong; children, Christopher Donald DeShong “Chris” (wife Stacey) of Carlisle, PA and Jesse Stroup, step-son, Clint Reid; grandchildren, Elissa DeShong (fiancé Austin Reviello) of Newburg, PA, Wyatt DeShong, and Jackson Reid; great granddaughter, Malia Reviello; siblings, Sharon Jumper (husband Richard) of Chambersburg, PA and twin brother, Ben DeShong (wife Jennie) of Newburg, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his great grandson, Ryker Reviello in infancy and nephew, Bryan Jumper.
The family will receive friends for on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 6-8 PM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA 17225. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024, at 11 AM, where Pastor Mike Carey will officiate at the above funeral home and address. Interment will be private.
