Mr. Donald Robert Adams, 83, of Hagerstown, died suddenly on Sunday evening, January 10, 2016, at his residence. He was the husband of Mrs. Pauline J. Adams, his wife of 58 years.
Born January 6, 1933, in Springhope, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Willard Wolfe and Vinie Mildred Rininger Adams. He was a 1951 graduate of Schellsburg-Napier Joint High School; and served with the United States Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Adams retired with 37 years of service in the Facility Management Department at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda.
He was a member of Montgomery-Cornerstone No. 195 AF&AM, Rockville and Friendship Lodge No. 84 of Hagerstown; and American Legion Post 268, Wheaton. Donald was previously a member of the Rininger-Hartle Post 9219, VFW, Pleasantville, Pennsylvania.
Besides his wife, Donald is survived by his daughter, Karen Jean Adams Bennett of Hagerstown; and two grandchildren, Jennifer D. Bennett Rogers of Frederick, and Jesse M. Bennett of Gaithersburg.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by siblings Phyllis Jean Hillegas, Helen Morgart, Janet M. Roberts, and James Clark Adams.
The family will receive friends at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown on Thursday, January 14, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. The funeral service will begin at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 11:00 AM, with Rev. C. Michael Henning of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Hagerstown, officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
