Mrs. Dolly S. (Carbaugh) Kesselring, 65, of Greencastle, PA., passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
Dolly was born on February 28, 1959, in Hagerstown, MD., to the late Harold W. Carbaugh and Evelyn Louise (Barthalow) Carbaugh of McConnellsburg, PA.
She grew up in Big Cove Tannery, where she attended Southern Fulton in Warfordsburg, PA. She graduated from Greencastle Antrim High School with the Class of 1977. She graduated from Hagerstown Junior College in 1982, where she learned computers and software programs, went on to Thompson Institute, where she learned medical billing and coding specialty, and graduated in 2005.
She worked for Maryland Ribbon in Hagerstown, MD., for seven years; Garden State Tannery, Williamsport, MD., for sixteen years, until they closed; Keystone Health, Chambersburg, PA., for eight years, as a medical biller and coder; Meritus Health, Hagerstown, MD., for two years in Patients Accounts and Charge Posting in Billing and for ten years at Meritus Health as an office secretary. She retired in March of 2024.
She was a member of Ebenezer U. B. Church, Greencastle, PA., and the American Academy of Professional Coders. She was an avid reader and loved to do puzzle books and play solitaire on the computer. In 1996, Dolly published her cookbook, dedicating it to her grandmother, Lillian Maye Carbaugh. She enjoyed teaching co-workers, working with people, and helping others.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Franklin E. Kesselring; two children: Elvis L. Knox (Amanda), Falling Waters, WV., David W. Knox (Kari), Mercersburg, PA.; grandchildren: Adriana, Jadon, Brody, Liam, Silas, and Annalise; her siblings: Wesely H. Carbaugh (Diana), Springfield, WV., Judy Carbaugh, Waynesboro, PA., Joyce Hornbaker (Denny), Mercersburg, PA., Diane Bigler, Greencastle, PA., Wanda Poper, Chambersburg, PA., and Stella Carbaugh of McConnellsburg, PA.; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Dennis W. Knox; grandmother, Lillian Maye Carbaugh, and grandfather, Daniel Carbaugh.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, May 23, 2024, in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 South Washington Street, Greencastle, with Pastor Josh Lance officiating her burial at Macedonia Church, Greencastle.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service, Thursday morning, in the funeral home.
