Mr. Dennis Craig Gardenhour, 71, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Monday, October 7, 2024, in Mercy House, Chambersburg, PA.

Born March 5, 1953, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late John E. and Betty (McDonald) Gardenhour.

Mr. Gardenhour was a graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1971 and later attended York Academy of Art.

He and his wife of 50 years, Cheryl Lousie (Peiffer) Gardenhour, were married February 1, 1974, in Ringgold, MD.

Mr. Gardenhour was as Manager of Publications for Grove Worldwide, currently Manitowoc Cranes, Shady Grove, PA. He retired in March 2019 with over 25 years of service.

He was a member of Cornerstone Church of Christ, Chambersburg, where he served as an Elder and Sunday school teacher. He also served as Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop #97, Waynesboro, for several years. In later years he mentored his grandson Logan in completing his Rank of Eagle Scout.

Mr. Gardenhour was an accomplished artist who enjoyed mentoring youth. “Craig” Leaves behind a legacy of family for whom he tirelessly supported and provided. He was an advocate of education supporting all his children and grandchildren through numerous advanced degrees. He loved pranks and showed his love for his family with his always unique gifts and antics especially with his grandchildren. He loved the Lord and led his family with kindness, compassion, and love.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children who could not have asked for a better father, Christopher Gardenhour of Waynesboro, Corey Gardenhour of Kingsport, TN and Amanda Gardenhour of Mercersburg, PA; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Eliza, Luke, Logan, Lauren, Kaitlyn and Annika; two great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Simon; his siblings, Kerry A. Gardenhour, Jay L. Gardenhour, and Stacey D. Harper, all of Waynesboro; and a number of special nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 11, 2024, in Ringgold Church of Christ, 14426 Barkdoll Road, Ringgold, MD with Pastor Bob Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Ringgold Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at a viewing and time of fellowship from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., Friday afternoon, in the church.
