Mr. David Leslie Snyder, 98, of Clear Spring, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Charlotte Hall (Maryland) Veterans Home.  He was the husband of the late Jane Rosella Snyder his wife of 56 years who died on October 21, 1998.

Born April 4, 1918, in Clear Spring, he was a son of the late Elmer Ellsworth and Mary Kathryn Gardner Snyder.  He graduated in 1935 from Clear Spring High School; and was a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II.

Mr. Snyder was employed with Jewel Tea Company, Home Shopping Service, and Beaver Mechanical.

He was a member of The River of Life Family Worship Center, Clear Spring.  Additionally, he was a Charter member of Joseph C. Herbert Post 222, Clear Spring American Legion; Mt. Moriah Lodge #32 of IOOF;  and National Rifle Association.  Formerly, he was Scout Master of Troop 11, BSA, Clear Spring.

Surviving are his children, Linda A. Snyder of Greenville, North Carolina, Judy E. Snyder of Gwynn Oak, Roberta E. Fox of Oquawka, Illinois, Kathryn M. Snyder of Clear Spring, Richard E. Snyder of Hedgesville, West Virginia, and Kenneth L. Snyder of Martinsburg, West Virginia; as well as by eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and four great, great grandchildren; a brother, Preston Leon Snyder; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife and parents, Mr. Snyder was preceded in death by siblings, Edna Marlene Dingee, Alice Lavada Myers, and Milton E. Snyder.

The family will receive friends at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, on Monday, March 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.  A graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 7, 1:30 PM, at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 17636 West Washington Street, Hagerstown, with Mr. Brett R. Hull officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, 29449 Charlotte Hall Road, Charlotte Hall, Maryland  20622.
