David Michael “Mike” Buterbaugh, 70, of Shippensburg, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born January 27, 1955, in York, PA, he was the son of the late Leon and Madeline Buterbaugh.
He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Janet (Stiffler) Buterbaugh.
Mike is also survived by one son, Christopher Buterbaugh; three stepchildren, Andrew Stopyra, Jr., Christina Stitley, and Joseph Stopyra; twenty-four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Sheila Mellott; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Mike is preceded in death by three siblings, Sam, Tracy, and Deb Kidwell, and his first wife, Emmer Irene Buterbaugh.
Mike enjoyed his job with NFI Trucking Company. He retired after 30 years of service.
He was a member of Sons of Amvets Post 224 where he held the positions of state and local officer, and the VA representative for Martinsburg, delivering craft kits to the veterans from the Sons. He enjoyed talking to everyone and helping when possible. He loved putting together model cars and sitting watching the birds and doves.
