Mr. Dale K. Thomas, 71, of Waynesboro, PA and formerly of Frederick, MD, passed away peacefully Friday, September 25, 2026, after a brief illness and surrounded by his family.
Born July 13, 1955 in Frederick, MD, he was the son of Carol Ann (Moxley) Thomas of Adamstown, MD and the late Ralph M. Thomas, Jr.
Dale graduated from Frederick High School with the Class of 1973.
He and his wife of over 38 years, Barbara M. (Myers) Thomas, were married on May 14, 1988, in Emmitsburg, MD.
Dale worked at State Farm in Frederick, MD, as a claims adjuster. He retired after more than 38 years of service with the company. He also worked part time at Dutch’s Daughter in Frederick for over 15 years.
He was a member of the Linganore United Methodist Church, Union Bridge, MD and performed with the Emmitsburg Community Chorus and the Seaboard Singers, through his work at State Farm.
Dale enjoyed working with youth throughout his life, especially teaching dance and twirl. He loved family trips to the beach, cruises and being “Poppi” to his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one daughter, Morgan W. Wiles (James) of Waynesboro; three grandchildren, Sawyer, Grayson and Zoey; one brother, Daryl Thomas (Kate) of Gettysburg, PA; two sisters, Cheryl Rippeon (Kenny) and Connie Colliflower (Joe), both of Frederick; and many nephews and extended family members.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, October 1, 2026, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, PA with Deacons John Hawkins and Joe Wolfe officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Wednesday evening, in the funeral home.
