Mr. Dale A. Root, 74, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Friday, July 12, 2024, at his home in Blue Ridge Summit, PA.

Born April 11, 1950, in Midland, MI, he was the son of the late Fred A. Root and Eva E. (Engel) Root.

Dale Served his country honorably and faithfully with the United States Marine Corps. He heeded his nations call and served overseas in Vietnam and at Parris Island, as a drill instructor making new Marines.

Mr. Root was a truck driver for D.L. George and Sons, being on the road for over 34 years.

Dale was a staple of the Blue Ridge Summit community; everyone knew and loved him. He was also an accomplished open water fisherman, making many trips to the ocean over the years.

Dale is survived by his companion of 22 years, Charlene “Gail” Wentz, of Waynesboro; Stepchildren: Shannon M. Wentz of York, PA, Brittney C. Charney, of Waynesboro, Aimie L. Charney, South Mountain, PA, John M. Charney of Waynesboro; Seven Grandchildren; siblings: Sandy K. Johnson of Midland, MI, Steve Root of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Fred Root of Midland, MI, and Jimmy Root of Jackson, MI.

Dale’s Memorial Toast will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 12:00 P.M, until 2:00 P.M. at 12644 Monterey Lane, Blue Ridge Summit, PA, sponsored by Dave & Audrey Young and Luke Tallburg.

Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, is handling the arrangements.
