Mr. Curtis William “Bill” Monn, Jr. 76, of Shippensburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, September 2, 2026 in the Emergency Room of WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.

Born September 10, 1949 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Curtis William, Sr. and Edna (Staley) Monn.

He was a graduate of Waynesboro High School with the Class of 1967 and served in the Waynesboro Army National Guard.

A machinist by trade, Bill was employed by Landis Tool Company, Ryan Homes, Nitterhouse and was a longtime and dedicated employee of Mack Truck Manufacturing.

When able, he attended services at South Mountain Chapel Brethren in Christ Church. He also served as a volunteer for both Mont Alto and Fayetteville Fire Companies.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also had an appreciation for antique cars, as well as racing.

Bill is survived by his wife of 33 years, Ruth J. (Stewart) Monn, who he married May 29, 1993; twin children, Ben Monn of Shippensburg and Kendra Monn of Newville; four grandchildren, Mason, Malachi, Wyatt and Gracelyn; half-brothers, Roy Monn and Lee Monn, both of Waynesboro; his former wife, Julie (Wagaman) Beard of Mt. Holly Springs, PA; and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews as well as a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Elaine (Monn) Hartman.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 11, 2026 in South Mountain Chapel Brethren in Christ Church, 11 Chestnut Grove Road, Shippensburg, PA with Pastor Dave Erisman officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.  Family and friends are encouraged to bring a posthumous birthday card for Bill, as his 77th birthday would have been on Friday.  

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Friday morning, in the church.

Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, PA, is handling the arrangements.
