Mr. Curtis L. “Shakey” Wright, 72, of Waynesboro, passed away Monday, July 22, 2024.

Born September 3, 1951 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Kenneth Wright and Kathryn M. (Rock) Wright Shade.

Curtis was a graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1970.

He was a longtime employee of Grove Manufacturing where he worked from May 25, 1970 until his retirement September 30, 2009.

Curtis was a member of several local organizations including William Max McLaughlin VFW Post #695, Owls Club, Eagles Club, Inc., Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 1191, Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15 and Waynesboro Fish and Game Association.

For many years, Curtis could be found on a ballfield umpiring Little League, Pony League and Colt League baseball as well as High School Girls’ Softball. He also was an avid hunter who especially enjoyed annual trips with his buddies. He also loved to bowl, having bowled in local leagues for many years.

He is survived by one son, Michael L. Wright of Waynesboro; his former spouse, Betsy L. (Bare) Wright; and a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Ernest W. Shade, Jr.; and a number of siblings.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 26, 2024 in Mt. Zion Cemetery, near Quincy, PA with the Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating.

Arrangements are by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
