Mr. Clyde Lester Irvin, Jr., 57, of Hagerstown, known to some as “C.J.” or “Doony”, died Tuesday morning, August 16, 2016, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown.
Born April 16, 1959, in Hagerstown, he was a son of the late Clyde Lester, Sr., and Lola Isabel Miles Irvin. He was a graduate of Clear Spring High School.
Clyde was a Correctional Officer at M.C.T.C. and had formerly worked for Montgomery Wards Delivery, Brewers Saab, K-Mart, and U.S. Security.
He was of the Baptist faith; and had faith in Christ.
Anyone who knew C.J. knew he was willing to help anyone; and, he always had a quick comeback for a joke. He liked watching the Orioles and the Redskins play, and enjoyed drag racing and MOPARS. Most of all, he enjoyed and loved his family.
Clyde was a donor to the Living Legacy Foundation of Maryland.
Surviving are his children, Corey and Lisa Irvin, and Jennifer Strickland; and grandson, Connor Strickland; his brothers, Sam and Mike Irvin; and nieces and nephews, Rebecca, Katie, Sam, Jr., Donald and Josh Irvin.
Besides his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by a sister, Claudia Mills.
The family will receive friends at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, on Monday, August 22, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 23, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Edward J. Wade officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul’s Church Cemetery, Clear Spring.
