Mr. Charles R. Long, Jr., 81, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Friday morning, November 22, 2024, in his home.
Born December 20, 1942 in Pulaski, VA, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Viola (Slusher) Long. His family moved to Waynesboro in 1954.
Mr. Long graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1962.
He and his wife of over 60 years, Gwenith (Minnick) Long, were married on March 28, 1964 in the First Christian Church, Waynesboro.
Mr. Long worked at Landis Tool Company from 1963 until his retirement in November 2001. During his time at Landis Tool, he earned his Master Machinist certificate. Following his retirement, he worked for PME in Greencastle, PA and later delivered flowers for B&H Lawn and Floral, Quincy, PA.
He was a member of Otterbein Church, Waynesboro, where he served as an usher and enjoyed bowling with the Landis 10 Pin League.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Shelly (Long) Motz and her husband, Chris and Troy Long and his wife, Jodi, all of Waynesboro; two grandchildren, Cody Motz (Lexi) of Mont Alto, PA and Chelsy Grubbs (Alex) of Mercersburg, PA; one brother, James Long (Cindy) of Mont Alto; his sister-in-law, Judy Long of Waynesboro; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Long and Douglas Long.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 26, 2024 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Pastor John Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Tuesday morning, in the funeral home.
