Mr. Charles L. Wortz, 91, of Little River, SC and formerly of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026 at McLeod Seacoast Medical Center, Little River.

Born July 14, 1934 in Binghamton, NY, he was the son of the late Charles L., Sr. and Blanche B. (Guyer) Wortz

He was a graduate of Gettysburg High School with the Class of 1952 and went on to complete three years of college.

Mr. Wortz served his country honorably in the United State Air Force during the Korean Conflict where he was stationed in Japan

He and his wife of 67 years, Mrs. W. Dianne (Wishard) Wortz, were married November 27, 1958 in New Franklin, PA.

Mr. Wortz was employed as a loss control and risk management representative with St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company, retiring in 1996 after over 20 years of service.

He was Lutheran by faith and a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15, William Max McLaughlin VFW Post #695, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1191, Eagles Club, Inc. and a former member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #731

Mr. Wortz was an avid reader who enjoyed delivering meals on wheels for over 15 years, woodworking and was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and Baltimore Orioles in addition to enjoying sports of all kinds.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Wortz leaves behind four children, Leslie Alston of Sunset Beach, NC, Connie Capacchione (Glenn) of Flintstone, MD, Dawn Monn (Douglas) of Waynesboro and Vicki Moore (John) of Sunset Beach, NC; five grandchildren, Ryan Moore, Steven Moore, Stephanie Moore, Samantha Shank and Sarah Cunningham; six great-grandchildren, Madison Moore, Lyla Moore, Stella Shank, Quinn Shank, River Shank and Lennon Capacchione; and a number of nieces and nephews as well as a host of extended family and friends.

He was the last of her immediate family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant son, Michael Wortz; son-in-law, Donald Alston; brother, Bryant Wortz; and sister-in-law Dorothy Wortz.

Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
