Charles “Charlie” D. Hoover Jr, 89, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania passed away December 11, 2024 at 9:44 a.m. at home with family by his side. He was born on September 2, 1935 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania to Charles D. Hoover, Sr and Martha (Rock) Hoover.
Charlie is survived by his two daughters: Tina (wife of Ben) Line and Jody Beam both of Chambersburg. He has 6 grandchildren; Shelly Rosenberry, Chad Rosenberry, Jonathan Beam, Holly Beam, Amber Beam and Zach Line. He has 20 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, a sister-in-law, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Carrie (Bowman) Hoover, Charles was preceded in death by two sons: Gregory and Brian Hoover and a great grandson, Leviathan Rosenberry.
Charlie was a hard-working man his entire life, often working multiple jobs at one time. He worked for Dairimaid, Sealtest, First Lutheran Church, and Park Avenue Pharmacy for over 50 years. Charlie just recently retired in May of 2023.
Charlie was a man of great faith and was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Chambersburg, PA. He often greeted fellow worshippers, before the official greeters had a chance, for Sunday service. He enjoyed being part of the small group on Sunday evenings.
Charlie was a family man and devoted his life to providing for his family in many ways. He was always loving, kind, gentle and compassionate to all those he encountered. A man of few words, he always had a smile and a story to share.
A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held on January 18, 2025. Visitation will be 12:30-1:00 PM, with the service starting at 1pm at his church, Christian Missionary Alliance, located at 230 Siloam Road in Chambersburg, PA.
