Mrs. Cathy A. (Freeman) Sweet, 76, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Monday, January 12, 2026 in WellSpan Waynesboro Hospital.
Born November 9, 1949 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Austin H. “Diz” and Betty L. (Ritz) Freeman.
Cathy was a graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1967 and then went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Education from Shippensburg State Teachers College.
She dedicated 32 years to teaching kindergarten at Old Forge Elementary School in Smithsburg, MD for the Washington County Maryland School System. She and her husband also owned and operated Antietam Dairy in Waynesboro for 34 years.
In her free time, Cathy enjoyed gardening doing Sudoku puzzles and especially treasured time spent with the family.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jacob D. “Jake” Sweet, who she married December 8, 1973; three children, Jamie F. Stevens of Hershey, PA and Jodie L. Sweet-Walker and Aydain K. Sweet, both of Waynesboro; five beloved grandchildren; one sister, Christie Freeman of Waynesboro; and a host of extended family members and friends.
Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
