Catherine “Leona” (Rock) Monn, 93, of Waynesboro, PA went to be with her heavenly Father on June 10, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born August 10, 1931 in Fairfield, PA, Liberty Township, she was the daughter of the late Cletus and Catherine (Wink) Rock. She grew up in the Waynesboro area and graduated from Washington Township Class of 1949.
She married her husband of 54 years, the late Jacob C. Monn Sr., on November 30, 1951, in Hagerstown MD., and is survived by three children, Jacob C. Monn Jr. (Shirley), Sharon D. Moats (Bobby), and Tina L. Bumbaugh (Dave) all of Waynesboro, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, George Rock of Shippensburg, PA and David Rock of Fredericksburg VA., and her daughter-in-law, Anna M. Monn.
Mrs. Monn worked in her early years at the Waynesboro Electric Company, Waynesboro News Agency and Certified Baking Company as a secretary. Later, she was a homemaker and mother who loved gardening and shopping and especially enjoyed cooking and being with her family.
She was a member of the First Brethren Church at nine years old. Once married, she became a member of the Willing Workers class at Blue Rock U.B. Church where she was active in church activities, and the Women’s Missionary Fellowship, she also taught afternoon Sunday School at the Fox Hill Union Church with her sister-in-law, Nellie Ankerbrand.
Likewise, she was a member of the former AARP chapter 739 in which she did volunteer work, the National AARP, the York Racing Club, The Racing Club of Hagerstown, the GO club, Club 60, and was secretary of the Kline Reunion for nineteen years.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 13, 2025 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, PA with Pastor Greg Helman officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery, near Quincy, PA.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Thursday evening, in the funeral home.
