Carol LaPoint Sheldon, 87, of Hagerstown, died Saturday January 29, 2011 at the home of her caregiver Suzanne Smith. Born March 28, 1923 in Albany, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late William Albrecht Sheldon and Jessie LaPoint Sheldon. She was employed by the Washington County Board of Education, teaching Home Economics at Boonsboro High School for 33 years. She was a graduate from Madison College as a dietitian, where she was a member of the 50 year club, receiving her Teaching Degree from Sheppard College and her Master’s Degree from the University of Maryland.


She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church and was Superintendent of the Children’s Department for many years.


A Graveside Service will held at Rest Haven Cemetery, on Friday February 4, 2011 at 11:00 A.M,


the Rev. Steve M. Taylor officiating.


In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, Md. 21742.


Arrangements are being handled by the Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home.
