Carl L. Jenkins, 86, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Monday, December 18, 2023 at his residence peacefully surrounded by his family. Born April 16, 1937 at home in Cromwell Township, Huntingdon County, PA he was the son of the late Joseph Baldwin Jenkins and Ellen Dubbs Jenkins.
Carl worked for the Chambersburg Area School District for over 27 years as a teacher, principal and ending his career as supervisory principal for the district. Following his retirement, he taught literacy courses and was a realtor with Long and Foster.
Carl enjoyed hiking, biking, reading, playing cards, traveling and in his younger days he loved ice skating. He was also very interested in the family genealogy.
He is survived by his spouse of 40 years Harland Garrison; two children, Carmel Jenkins of Harrisburg, PA and Dirk Jenkins (Shelley) of Chambersburg; two grandchildren, Kayla Varner (Dustin) and Hunter Jenkins; two sisters, Mary Cohnour of Three Springs, PA; Kathleen Mahoney of Lakeland, FL; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by siblings, Phyllis Hepfer, Sherman Jenkins, Gerald Jenkins, Donald Jenkins, Joseph Jenkins and Dean Jenkins.
