Mrs. Camille C. (Finney) Bowie, 69, of Waynesboro, PA passed away unexpectedly Monday evening, March 17, 2025, in her home.
Born November 25, 1955 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of Mildred (Socks) Finney of Waynesboro and the late Randolph Finney. She was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area.
Camille graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1973. She later went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Business Education from Shippensburg University.
She and her husband of over 49 years, David A. Bowie, were married on January 3, 1976 at the old Fairview Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Tomstown, PA.
In her early years, Camille taught for the Greencastle-Antrim High School in the Business Department. She later spent most of her years teaching in the Waynesboro Area Senior High School Business Department. She retired in 2007.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Fairview Ward, Waynesboro, where she had served as Relief Society President, Young Women’s President, Seminary Teacher, Institute Teacher and was currently serving as the Ministering Sisters Interview Coordinator.
Camille enjoyed camping, boating, spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities and she was a champion spectator and supporter of the Waynesboro Indoor Guard.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by four children, April Hanosek (Mike) of Waynesboro, Jared Bowie (Lexi) of Waynesboro, Kevin Bowie (Molly) of Danville, PA and Karen McCrea (Brent) of Waynesboro; 16 grandchildren; one sister, Lisa Coleman of Waynesboro; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Randolph Finney, Jr.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, March 24, 2025 in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Fairview Ward, 11887 Mentzer Gap Road, Waynesboro with Bishop Jared Childers officiating. Burial will follow in Quincy Cemetery, Quincy, PA. A reception will follow the burial in Cultural Hall at the church.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Sunday evening, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
