Burroughs “Dan” Long, 80, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away June 9, 2025, in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born August 14, 1944, in Myrtle Beach, SC, he was the son of the late Burroughs Henry and Florrie (Causey) Long.

He was a member of Ocean View Baptist Church, Myrtle Beach, SC, and attended Hope Presbyterian Church, Shippensburg, PA. Dan enjoyed collecting seashells on the beach and making crafts with them. His favorite passion was fishing and teaching the grandkids how to catch a big one. Anytime you entered Dan’s home, you could be sure that Matt Dillon was always in the background.

Dan is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Jean (Rackley) Long; two children, Pamela Mumford (Daniel) of Camp Hill, PA, and Danvis Dale Long (Lee Pritchett) of Myrtle Beach, SC; five grandchildren, Daniel Lacy Mumford (Andrea) of Shippensburg, PA, Chase Danvis Long (Alice DeMoor) of Myrtle Beach, SC, William Robert Mumford (Sarah Conrad) of Camp Hill, PA, Whitney Tori Long (Meagan Adkins) of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Amanda Jean Mumford of Shippensburg, PA; five great-grandchildren, Lacy Marie, Hazel Anne, William Conrad, George Gregory, and Florence Jean Mumford; two sisters, Tina Huston and Brenda Rabon, both of Myrtle Beach, SC; as well as many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
