Mr. Bruce C. “Whitey” Ingels, 97, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024 in WellSpan Waynesboro Hospital.

Born June 24, 1927 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Albert C. and Grace (Kelly) Ingels.

Mr. Ingels was a graduate of Waynesboro High School with the Class of 1945.

He served in the United States Army during World War II where he was stationed in Italy.

He and his wife, the late Mary L. (Emory) Ingels, were married June 12, 1948. They were together for 58 years when she passed away March 31, 2006.

In his early life, Mr. Ingels was employed at Waynesboro News Agency, the ACME Store in Chambersburg and later in sales at Pryor’s Tire Service and B.F. Goodrich, both of Waynesboro. He then worked as an electrician at Landis Tool Company before serving as District Justice and Justice of the Peace in Waynesboro. He retired in 1988 after 32 years of service.

He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, where he was a member of the Crider Sunday School Class and was currently attending services at Calvary Assembly of God, Waynesboro. He was also a member of William Max McLaughlin V.F.W. Post # 695, Joe Stickell American Legion Post # 15 and Waynesboro Coin Club.

A gifted craftsman, Mr. Ingels enjoyed woodworking and building Kentucky Rifles. He also enjoyed playing the fiddle – having built two, collecting coins, gardening and was a Civil War enthusiast.

He is survived by one daughter, Brenda K. Keller (David) of Waynesboro; two granddaughters, Melissa Keller and Kimberly Adams; one great-grandson, Andrew Adams; one sister, Edith Snader of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by nine sisters, Mildred Newcomer, Renie Schildt, Florence Heckart, Alice Sadler, Faye Schmidt, Elsie Gintner, Dorothy Ingels, Agnes Ingels and Patricia Kramer; eight brothers, Richard Ingels, Fred Ingels, Albert Ingels, Leonard Ingels, Donald Ingels, Robert Ingels, Paul Ingels and Earle Ingels; and half-brother, Roy Miller.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 30, 2024 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Pastor Dwan Newsome officiating. Burial will follow in Burns Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, where military graveside honors will be conducted by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Friday evening, in the funeral home.
