Mrs. Bonnie L. (Fear) Markell, 81, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born May 13, 1944, in Ravenna, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Ralph G. and Irene L. (Hoffaker) Fear. She was a 1962 graduate of Kent State University School.

On June 13, 1964, she married, James M. “Jim” Markell. Together they shared a devoted marriage and traveled the world through Jim’s career, embracing each new place and experience side by side.

Bonnie worked as an administrative assistant at Berryville Graphics, Inc., Berryville, VA, for over 25 years. She was a member and past officer of Professional Secretaries International, reflecting both her professionalism and leadership.

In November 2014, Bonnie and Jim moved to Quincy Village. There, she remained active and engaged, volunteering her time and helping tend the Butterfly Garden. She was a talented seamstress and quilter, and she found great enjoyment in researching her family’s genealogy.

Bonnie was known for her strong spirit and warm sociability. Her family lovingly described her as “tough,” someone who, once she committed to something, cared about it deeply and wholeheartedly.

In addition to her husband, Jim, she is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Markell of Mount Arlington, NJ; her beloved canine companion, Rolly; her “grandcat,” Mickey; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Cottrell.

A Memorial Reception will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 1:30 P.M. in the Hess Room in Minnick Commons at Quincy Village at Quincy Village, 6596 Orphanage Road, Waynesboro, PA, with Rev. Richard Wierwille officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, PA, is handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.bowersoxfuneralhomes.com.
