Bonita Lee Breeden, 70, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at her home. She was born on July 29, 1956, in Waynesboro, PA to the late Thaddeus Edward, Sr. and Patricia Ann (Lowman) Mitchell.
Bonita was a member of the Community Grace Church in Greencastle, PA. Throughout her life she was employed by TA Travel Center, V.F.W. Post #6319, and the Blue Heron all in Greencastle, PA. In her free time, she enjoyed going to bible study at her church, watching Penn State football, and spending time with her friends and family.
She is survived by her son William “Bill” Shaffer (Tammy); grandchildren Austin William Shaffer (Winter), Keith Eugene Shaffer, Alexis Destiny Lee Shaffer, and Alex Brian Shaffer; great grandchildren Aurora Rain Povilate Shaffer and Violet Cordelia Shaffer; siblings Nancy Ann Whittaker (Jesse), Linda Howells (Paul), and Thaddeus Edward “Eddie” Mitchell, Jr. (Jeanne); three nieces and one nephew. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Larry Gene Shaffer who passed away on January 10, 2010, and brother Lee Roy Mitchell.
As per Bonita’s wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home in Greencastle, PA.
