Bobbie Jo Banks was born on November 8, 1937, in Shreveport, Louisiana. She passed away July 30, 2024 at her home in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
Bobbie married Timothy Banks, Sr. and in 1962 he brought his “Southern Belle” to Chambersburg, PA. Through their union, they had four children: Virginia Banks Listach (Nora James), Nina Banks, Timothy Banks Jr., and Bobbie Banks Hunter (Earl); grandchildren: Rashaad, Kaylan, Jared, Matthew, Quincy, Clayton, Emiliano, Ethan, Julian, and Fatima; great granddaughter Milan; and a host of nieces and nephews, including beloved niece Sherry Brown.
Bobbie graduated from Holy Rosary Institute, a Catholic boarding high school in Lafayette, LA and attended Grambling College. After her children began school, she pursued a dream of being a beautician at Edy's School of Beauty. Although she never practiced her craft, she was a devoted customer of the salon until its closing. She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church for over sixty years and frequently attended Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. She spent her career working at Letterkenny Army Depot. She happily retired in 1992 and spent her golden years watching 1960’s & 70’s tv reruns, and her beloved Hallmark channel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia and Pete Harris, siblings Beverly Trammell and Robert Gilyard, and grandson Dwayne Banks.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM prior to the funeral service which will begin at 11:00 AM on Monday August 5, 2024 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. George Nathan Bell of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church will officiate.
