Mrs. Betty Jane Bell Young Kessel, 70, of Falling Waters, West Virginia, died Friday, July 29, 2016, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown. She was the wife of Mr. Olin A. Kessel, her husband of 19 years; and of her late first husband Samuel H. Young.
Born October 15, 1945, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Harrison and Birdie Virginia Wittkofsky Bell.
Mrs. Kessel was an associate at JC Penny.
She was a member of Evangel Baptist Church, Hagerstown.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by bonus children, bonus grandchildren, and bonus great grandchildren; by nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews; as well as by her sister, Beverly Jean Sanders of Hagerstown.
Besides her first spouse and parents, Mrs. Kessel was preceded in death by her son Randall J. Young; and siblings, Mary A. Forrest and Frances Virginia Farris, and Joseph Bell.
The Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown is handling the arrangements. The family will receive friends at her church, Evangel Baptist Church, 17922 Broadfording Road, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740, on Tuesday, August 2, beginning at 10:00 AM. The funeral service will begin at the church at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Reggie W. Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Kessel’s name to Building Fund of Evangel Baptist Church.
