Mrs. Betty (Staley) Reed, 94, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025 in Paramount Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Fayetteville, PA.
Born April 10, 1931 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Philip C., Sr. and Mary Cleone (Reed) Staley.
Mrs. Reed was a graduate of Waynesboro High School with the Class of 1948.
She and her husband, the late Mr. Dick W. Reed, were married January 14, 1956. They were together for 54 years when he passed away September 3, 2010.
She is survived by two children, Christina M. Carbaugh (George) and David A. Reed (Kimberly), both of Waynesboro; seven grandchildren, George Carbaugh, II, Emily Cooper, Adam Wilson, Victoria Stock, Morgann Klink, Shaun Reed and Payton Reed; two step-grandsons, Todd Carbaugh and Tyler Carbaugh; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Philip C. Staley, Jr. who passed away July 8, 1981.
Mrs. Reed was employed at Stanley Company Chambersburg for many years and later in the cafeteria at Waynesboro High School. She retired June 30, 1998 after 27 years of service.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Mont Alto, PA Association of School Retirees, South Chapter AARP #2977 and National AARP.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Betty enjoyed knitting, reading, watching Westerns and she especially loved time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family with burial in Mount Zion Cemetery, Quincy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Meals on Wheels of Franklin County or Mainstreet Waynesboro Flower Fund.
