Betty Louise Gary (Pitchford)
Betty Louise Gary (Pitchford), a beloved aunt and cherished member of her family, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the age of 84. Betty was born on October 4, 1941, in South Plainfield, New Jersey to Thelma and Thomas Pitchford. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Russell Gary, brother, William Pitchford and sister, Dolores Epstein.
Betty was a woman who found joy in the simple things in life. She was a fantastic crocheter, creating beautiful things with her hands. She loved to read, cook and bake. For her nieces and nephews, Betty was a special part of growing up. Her home held memories that will last a lifetime, especially the excitement of visiting Aunt Betty and knowing there would always be something tasty waiting; baked goods, ice cream or pudding. Her home was a place where family could feel welcome, comfortable, and cared for. She leaves behind countless memories, both big and small, that will continue to bring smiles and comfort to those who knew and loved her. Though she is deeply missed, Betty’s love will remain woven into the lives of her family.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Betty’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Cemetery.
Family and friends are encouraged to make donations to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter in Betty’s name.
